Crashed Site + Friday Favorites

Treadmill Workout+ Friday Favorites-9

I’m home! My weekend got off to a rocky start this morning, as I somehow managed to completely DELETE my website. Yep, all my posts, the design, pictures, EVERYTHING gone. *Cue horror music* I was extremely panicked, and upon further investigation decided my only option was to rebuild it. Luckily thanks to one of my lovely subscribers (my mom) I was able to re-post most of posts (but lost all of the comments 🙁 sad side effect). Note to self: BACK UP SITE ASAP. I think everything is back in running order now… So onto our normal programming!

Friday Favorites

  • The 52 Lists Project: Jake got this for me for my birthday this year. I have been enjoying making the lists that are prompted by the book, and the once a week time frame works well for my busy schedule. I look forward to re-reading the lists at the end of the year! I might even share some of the lists.the 52 list project book cover (Photo from Moorea-Seal.com)
  • My Fitbit Charge: I have a somewhat on/off relationship with my Fitbit (I’ll go weeks wearing it, it’ll die, and I’ll forget to wear it for a while). I have been enjoying it lately, though, and love using it as a watch, too!
  • Weddingbee boards: This is my current guilty pleasure. I love reading the boards that people post about various wedding planning topics. It’s also fun to look through pictures of peoples’ dresses and rings! Honestly even if I weren’t planning a wedding I think it’d be fun to look through.
  • The Returned tv show: This past week I watched season one of this show on Netflix and it was really good! I love a good mystery/horror/suspense show, and this fit the bill. Sadly, it was only 10 episodes long and I’m pretty sure got cancelled. (Ended on a total cliff hanger, too!) Still worth the watch, in my opinion. Check it out!80037657_w
  • 10 Cloverfield Lane movie: Jake and I saw this movie this week and we really enjoyed it. It kept us on our toes, and was one of my favorite genres! (Mystery/horror/suspense…see above haha.)

Let’s hope for no more blog problems! That was much too stressful for a Friday. I hope you have a great week, and don’t forget to subscribe via email (it’s in a tab on the right) if you want to receive notifications of my posts!

Smoothie Recipe + Friday Favorites

Treadmill Workout+ Friday Favorites-5

It’s FRIDAY! Jump for joy!! I hope you had a good week! My week went by pretty fast, which was nice! Jake returned from his trip and according to his stories had a great time! I was pretty glad to have my guy back, though. 🙂 Ready to hear what I’ve been loving this week??

Glamorous smoothie drinking.

  1. Easy breakfast smoothies: I have been blending up this “recipe” a lot lately and love how good AND simple it is. The ingredient amounts are super guestimated, but it’s kind of a recipe that you just eyeball/put in however much you’d like/make sure it’s drinkable. Enjoy and let me know if you love simple smoothies too!

  2. My planner: I use a Lilly Pulitzer planner and since I started back to school, I have been loving using it again. I love writing all of my plans, due dates, and doodles in the pretty pages. Clicking the photo below will take you to an old blog post of mine (on the old Pretty Grazing). I did a little review of the planner with more details of what’s insideLilly
  3. My cash system: I wouldn’t say this one is exactly a fun favorite, but it is helping me be a little more accountable with my spending. Basically (for now) I am allowing myself a certain amount of money (in cash) for fun spending throughout the mont. So for anything other than most groceries and gas, I am using the cash I took out only! I would definitely recommend anyone do this if you want a reality check on your spending. I might do some more in-depth posts about this in the future when I have a little more experience under my belt. Being thoughtful about money is one of my goals right now, and any tips or advice are welcome!IMG_7669
  4. Market tote bag: I picked this bag up a few weeks ago at Hobby Lobby and think it’s the cutest thing ever! I’ve actually been using this for school this week, but intend to use it as a grocery bag. People at my school probably think I’m just confused/crazy/obsessed with food. 😉

I am looking forward to a weekend with absolutely NO plans yet. I think I see movies and snacks in the future for me. I hope you have a great weekend!

What kind of planner do you use? Do you get sucked into cute stuff at Hobby Lobby or is that just me?

Why I’m Excited to be a Young Wife

wife

Hi!! I have been thinking about writing a post like this for a while, and today’s the day! Prepare yourself for some lovey-dovey-ness. You’ve been warned!

In a world where waiting to get married until you’re 30 is quickly becoming the “cool” or respectable thing to do, I’m definitely not a “cool kid.” While I totally get that a lot of people don’t find their person until later in life, I also know there are a lot of people who wouldn’t even consider marriage until later in life. Which is totally fine!!! I don’t want to come off as bashing people who wait to get married when they’re a little older. Trust me, I’ve read a lot of blog posts about finding yourself, becoming financially well-off, etc. being extremely important before tying the knot. I get it! Being a major planner, I completely understand all of this. So, why would I ever want to get married when I’m 22??

  • I am so excited to have a partner in life to grow up with. And I can’t think of anyone I’d rather do life with than with Jake! We will get to experience every part of life together and I can’t wait!
  • We have a plan. I think this is an important part to mention, because it is the main reason I don’t worry much about getting married young. Jake and I have discussed (a LOT) about how we’ll make it work. (Financially, work-wise, school-wise, babies???, etc.) We share the same values, have like-minded goals, and talk openly about the future. And I’m totally not naive to think that everything goes exactly as planned, but knowing we have talked about like, EVERYTHING helps me feel more at ease.
  • It feels right. This one isn’t so easy to explain…I just know I want to marry Jake and I am ready. I can’t wait to live together, get to know him even better (I still learn new things about Jake after knowing him for 7ish years!), and just to become a family. Have I always felt like so ready?? Definitely not! Trust me when I say that a lot of thought and consideration has been put into our future.
  • There’s no perfect time for anything. Waiting until the “perfect” time in life seems silly to me, as I would totally over-analyze everything and there would never be a “perfect” time to get married. (Keep in mind, I think we have chosen a good time, not just a random, blind, “hopefully good” time.)
  • We want to be young-ish parents. This is pretty much self-explanatory. Being a mom has always been a dream of mine, and Jake and I both want to have kids while we are pretty young. Getting married sooner rather than later will allow us to do this.
  • I found the right person already. I feel like that is such a blessing and I am beyond grateful that I know who I want to be with forever. (*insert heart-eyes emoji*) YAY for love!

The most recent pic of us…girl needs a haircut.

I hope this post didn’t rub anyone the wrong way. I just feel like (and hear from peers) that settling down/getting married earlier in life is frowned upon, and sometimes even made-fun-of. I think that everyone just needs to make the best decision for themselves, and do what makes them feel happy and secure. Had I not met my future husband in 8th grade, I might (probably) be in a totally different situation. If you are in a place where you desire a relationship, love being single, or are somewhere in between, I truly believe God will place that person in your life at the right time. Patience truly is a virtue! But you never know what the next season of your life might hold. I thought that sharing my perspective might be helpful/interesting! And wow, I don’t think I have ever written something so mushy/open/emotional. Phew!!! So be easy on me!

What are your thoughts on this subject? Do you think I’m crazy? All (kind) opinions are welcome. 😉

Spreading love and kindness is always a good idea.

End of Spring Break Blues

Treadmill Workout+ Friday Favorites-2

I can’t believe my spring break is coming to an end! I am ready to get back into my daily routine, but the rest and relaxation will be missed! The last few weeks at school before break were pretty hectic so I’m hoping I can ease into schoolwork this week.

I have done a little shopping lately and whenever I wear one of my new pieces I try to remember to take pictures of my outfit. I’m a pretty casual dresser, and most of the time you can find me in leggings and t-shirts. The picture below is how I “styled” one of the t-shirts I received in the mail the other day.

(Top: Shop Riff Raff, Jeans: a.n.a Jeggings (from a few months ago, similar here), purse: Kate Spade (old, similar here in black), Monogram necklace: Zales (similar), Druzy necklace: Local boutique (similar here), Shoes: Old Navy)

Blair Outfit

I had a relaxing weekend with my family during their quick visit to Springfield. Last night we rented the movie “Spy” to watch and it was really good! I’m pretty easy to please as far as movies go, but I think that a lot of different people would like that movie. It was funny, kind of “action-y”, and had a good cast. I would recommend it! (Not for kids, though.) My mom, sister, and I also went to a dress store and tried on some dresses, which gave me a little bit of confirmation of the style I am liking. I have decided (I think) that for now I am going to take a break from shopping and try to buy closer to mid- to late-summer. Since our wedding is still pretty far out, I don’t want to buy too soon and have dress regret. Reading WeddingBee might be getting to my head a little bit. 😉

I hope Jake is having fun on his trip! I love that he gets to go have fun this week, but I’ll be missing him! I like being able to see him throughout the week, so this week will be a little different. Without getting too mushy, I just love that guy! I can’t wait to get married and become our own little family. 🙂

In case you’re curious, we posted a YouTube video about the wedding venue we chose! You can watch it here.

Did you have a good weekend? Would you be worried about dress regret? I know it might sound crazy, but it’s a big commitment! I hope you have a relaxing Sunday night, and a wonderful week!
