Instead of a regular favorites post this Friday, I wanted to write a post about Jake and I’s anniversary.
Yesterday (the 18th…which happened to correspond to the number of this F.F…I love when numbers do cool things!) Jake and I celebrated our sixth dating anniversary. I’m not gonna lie, I’m a little sad that this is our last dating anniversary, and next year we will start from scratch again!
I just can’t imagine having a different anniversary date than the one we’ve had and mini-celebrated each month for the past six years. That’s more than 70 month-iversaries!!! (This is the part where you start making fun of me behind my back, it’s okay.)
Don’t get me wrong, though, I’m so excited to get married and get to celebrate married anniversaries! It’s going to be so fun to be in that next season of life.
I thought it would be fun to do a little reflecting on the last six years of our relationship, and I’m sure I will love to come back and
laugh at myself read what I have to say when we’re old and married. In an attempt to organize my thoughts a little, I’ll write in list form a few of the things I’ve learned along the way. (One for each year because I like numbers to match.)
SIX THINGS I’VE LEARNED AFTER SIX YEARS TOGETHER:
Growing up doesn’t always mean growing apart.
Dating your best friend is the very very best (seriously).
Beginning your relationship as a friendship is very beneficial & you’ll be glad you did.
You still get giddy & excited when you kiss (yes even after 6 years).
Even if it’s 1 am and you’re fighting, it’s important to make up and hug.
Your love for each other just keeps growing and growing and that’s how it should always be.
To end this post, I’m sharing some pics from our date night! Jake took me out to a local restaurant, Tea Bar & Bites, out for some ice cream afterward at Elle’s Patisserie, and then walked around and talked. I got the green tea ice cream and it was so good!! For dinner I had a salad which was good, but the best part was the warm pita with hummus that we ordered for an appetizer. SO. GOOD. I definitely recommend both of those places if you’re in Springfield, MO. It was the perfect date night filled with lot’s of conversation and quality time (and good food). Both of us are big talkers so long conversations have always been one of my favorite ways we bond. (P.S. Going on drives produces THE BEST conversations, BTW.)
I know this is kind of an un-informative post, but I really wanted to write something for our anniversary. I’m just so lucky to have Jake in my life and I am so truly blessed with our relationship.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
