I Got Married!!!

Hello friends! I’ve missed you!

Since we last chatted, I GOT MARRIED!!! I am now Mrs. Caitlin Burch. Weird, right?

On August 12th, Jake and I had the best wedding ever with our friends and family surrounding us, and celebrated our love. It was seriously the best!!! My vision for the style of our day turned out exactly as I’d hoped and I couldn’t be happier with how everything went. Thank you to everyone who helped make our day so special!!! We love you!!

Then, we woke up at 3:00 am the next day and left for our amazing honeymoon to St. Lucia! It was a week of fun and relaxation and quality time and we loved every minute. (Beside leaving Jake’s passport on the plane and me being patted down TWICE by TSA… only us.)

If you are getting married soon and don’t know where to honeymoon, I would totally suggest St. Lucia. AND AN ALL INCLUSIVE. So much food. So much fun.

It was also just so so beautiful. Picture overload below:1B86166E-552B-4B34-A064-5ADA7400205E2F2B16B7-4763-4C50-A27A-4587F6205F980ECDF057-296B-4033-BF46-5322C024B98A6F8123E5-FFF4-4F66-8652-E9D2ACB4A24E31E07BBB-7668-45D3-9B3A-629AB243CF91447DFF51-C5F7-4FC4-970A-663DF41944CED6B8D1EC-7A16-41E7-9AC8-EBC74DAD63AFD6D3C9C0-F7FD-4E0B-8799-D867629C7AF7E9D20917-E375-44A1-A27C-B7D7E468F33DFA2AB3F4-92C0-476D-A4A2-9DE138B69BB5IMG_1173.JPG8132F5E0-56B3-416B-8903-1D2872DE9C72

Now we are back to reality. And loving newlywed life. Being married is so fun! My favorite part so far is feeling like Jake and I are a new family unit, and the excitement that comes with thinking about the future and what our family will end up being like. So fun to dream and plan! Oh and hanging out with your best friend for the rest of your life is pretty cool too. (:

I love being Mrs. Caitlin Burch!

The school/work side of my life is going well, too. I just started classes and clinic starts this week. My research project is progressing well, and my work as a graduate assistant has gone well too. All of that keeps me pretty busy, but I feel like I will be able to spend more time physically at our house, which is big for me. I am a major homebody, so being able to work from home contributes positively to my mental well-being.

Also, I am so excited for my clients this semester! I am ready to meet them tomorrow and work with them to improve their speech and language this semester.

I think that about sums up my life update for you guys! Soon I want to share an apartment tour, because I’m loving the way it has come together! I feel like we have created a cozy first home together and it really feels like home.

Have a wonderful week!

Life Update

I’m baaaaaaaack. Hi guys.

I thought I should update you about what’s been going on I’m my life lately since I’ve been absent on the blog. (Sorry!!!) I mentioned on IG today that Jake and I are getting married in 3 WEEKS. (That reminds me, I need to update the letter board!) I can’t believe the day is finally almost here, and that I actually get to become Jake’s wife so soon. We are both so ready to settle into a new normal routine and for life to slow down a little bit.

I have also been incredibly busy with school. Between clinic responsibilities, graduate assistantship duties, and research, my plate is full. Add a move into the mix and that has made for a really busy July!

I’m trying not to wish away this season, but boy am I looking forward with joy and excitement for the next one!

Side note, is anyone else 29184% ready for fall?? It is SO HOT in Springfield, and you KNOW Hobby Lobby already has fall decor out (shoot, they have Christmas out already). This summer turned out to be way busier than I anticipated, and this fall is my last semester of class and clinic ever so I’m pretty ready to get started.

Anyway, I’m also training for a half-marathon! The race is this November, and a group of our friends are doing it together. It’s been so long (since high school!) that I’ve ran with other people, and I’m looking forward to it!

I have truly missed writing on the blog, and hope I can figure out a new schedule that works for me. My hours are so crazy and varying during the summer, but I’ll have a little break in August to get everything in order. Thank you so much for reading and caring about my little life!!

P.S. I have an update about my word of the year that I chose back in January! Look forward to that post later this week. 🙂

Friday Favorites #54

2017 Friday Favorites

Hi friends! Happy weekend!

I hope your summer is off to a good start. I’ve been basking in relaxation, and couldn’t be happier.

It’s about time I shared some favorites with you after my little hiatus from the blog! I’ve missed chatting with you!

Today I ran some errands, baked some yummy treats, and enjoyed a date night of Cheddar’s and Parenthood. (The recipe for a pretty great Friday, if you ask me.)

We don’t have too many plans this weekend, but Jake is off work so we will definitely take advantage of that and spend a bunch of quality time together.

I really don’t have much to catch you up on, so let’s get to the things I’ve been loving, shall we?

F  R  I  D  A  Y    F  A  V  O  R  I  T  E  S

1 | Lonestar Southern

I follow a LOT of lifestyle/fashion/style bloggers on IG, and Kate at Lonestar Southern has quickly become a favorite. She has such a sweet southern personality, and wears the cutest things. If you need some fun fashion inspo in your feed, give her a follow! (PS I totes bought this shirt and want to style it the same way she did here… so cute and fun!)

2 | DIY Wedding Invitations

So as a way to save some MAJOR cash, I designed and am printing my own wedding invites!! I snagged some blank invites on mega-clearance, and created my design using befunky.com, and made some pretty, simple invitations. They aren’t perfect, but for what I paid, I love them! They are classic, and “go” with the wedding vibes. I might make a whole post about the process, but I had to include this as a fave for now! I don’t want to post a pic until they are sent out, so our guests will be surprised, but trust me, they turned out really well, and I’m pretty proud of myself!

3 | Easy Banana Oat Bars via The Lean Green Bean

YUM! I had a ton of too-ripe bananas to use up, so I did a quick search on Pinterest for “banana recipes” and this one popped right up! I am so glad I tried them. They are so good! And required few ingredients + steps, which is a must for me when it comes to recipes (simplicity over everything!). Head over to Lindsay’s blog to see the recipe, and make sure to let me know if you give it a try! I’m already looking forward to eating one tomorrow…

4 | The Office

Remind me again why I, a 22 year old human, am just now watching this show? It is the perfect lazy-day show to binge watch 298394 episodes of. I literally laugh out loud during some episodes, which takes a lot! (I can be a tough cookie to crack in the humor department.) I love Dwight and Pam and Michael and Jim…..etc. etc. etc.

Have a fab weekend friends! Talk to you soon!

Friday Favorites #53

2017 Friday Favorites

Hello friends! Happy Friday!

I’m home at my parents’ for the weekend until early Sunday morning, when we head back to Springfield for our friends’ brunch wedding. I can’t wait! I love love!

We’re also celebrating mother’s day this weekend, which will be fun. Celebrations of any kind are always a win in my book!

I can’t believe the semester is just about over. It’s pretty insane(-ly exciting). I’m ready for some sunbathing, weekday Target trips, and last-minute wedding prep. Oh, and more non-scrub outfits. Definitely more non-scrub outfits.

1 | Reading for Fun

I finally finished a book I had started months ago (Grace, Not Perfection!), and remembered how much I love reading for fun. I am so excited to tackle lots of books this summer!

2 | Parenthood

I’m obsessed with this show. OMG. Obsessed. I love the drama, the humor, the family, everything. SO GOOD. Kristina and Adam are my faves. I don’t want to say anything else, you just need to watch it. For reference, I love shows like Friday Night Lights, One Tree Hill, Hart of Dixie, Gilmore Girls, etc.

3 | Bare Minerals Original Foundation

I recently rediscovered this makeup, and have used it everyday since. I love how light and skin-like it is, and the natural glow it gives to the skin. Powder foundation is so easy, too! If you’ve overlooked this classic, give it a try. It’s especially perfect for the summer months.

4 | Just Married Swimsuit

I’ve been searching for swimsuits to buy for our honeymoon, and stumbled upon this one that I just can’t not buy. Seriously, how cute + can-only-get-away-with-wearing-once is this suit?!

Have the best weekend! And happy mother’s day to all you mamas out there. Relax + have fun!
